About Ashley Lembcke, LCSW
I earned a master’s degree (MSW) from Portland State University and I completed my clinical training and licensing (LCSW) as a counselor in the Columbia River Gorge. I’ve been counseling in a clinical setting since 2014 (with a few years in between to raise kids). I love working with people to move past roadblocks and implement healthy strategies to cope with challenges. Over the years, I have had the honor of working with people from ages 2-92 in a variety of settings.
Are we a good fit?
In determining if therapy will be effective, your relationship with your therapist is the most important factor. I truly believe you are doing the very best you can with the tools you currently possess — but things can be better! In an ideal therapeutic relationship, you will feel accepted, supported, and never judged. That doesn’t mean you won’t feel challenged — therapy is some of the hardest personal work you will ever do.
I pull from a number of different modalities, however I am primarily rooted in humanism, narrative theory, cognitive-behavioral, and solution focused therapy.
What does this mean? Essentially, I believe that:
people are basically good and have an innate desire to better themselves and the world around them
how you talk to yourself, what you tell yourself, and how you tell your story has a profound effect on your thoughts, mood, and behaviors
unhelpful thought patterns and unhealthy behaviors can be changed
Our work together will be collaborative and focus on solutions. You are the expert in your life — you already have the knowledge inside you. We will work together to discover how to overcome the roadblocks, negative thought patterns, and unhealthy habits currently standing in your way.
I love having the opportunity to sit with people, encourage vulnerability, and help people become unstuck and move forward with their lives.
Out of the office:
When not in the office, I love spending time with my husband (Jeremiah), our adorable kids (Lark and Quinn), and our quirky-but-cute dog (Lexi).
